Our Mission

Founded in 2015, Cyber-Seniors is a non-profit organization whose mission is to bridge the digital divide and connect generations using technology.

We provide tech-training for senior citizens using an intergenerational volunteer model. High school and university/college students are provided with lessons and learning activities to train them to act as digital mentors and senior citizens gain access to effective technology training and intergenerational communities that keep them socially connected and engaged.  As seniors become more comfortable using technology in their daily lives, they find a welcoming intergenerational online community, that serves to increase their well-being and offers them safe opportunities to engage, while continuing to embrace technology. Our model is cost effective, sustainable and benefits both seniors and young people.

The Service We Offer Students

We train students to act as digital mentors and provide rewarding volunteer opportunities.

The Cyber-Seniors Mentor training program consists of video lessons, practice activities and hand-in assignments, as well as tool kits to support students wishing to start their own Cyber-Seniors program or host an event.

Volunteer hours are documented, and digital badges and certificates are awarded. Students develop valuable work skills that give them a leg up when applying for a job or post-secondary school programs.

The Service We Offer Senior Organizations

Cyber-Seniors provides community organizations with options that cannot be readably or affordably reproduced. We have invested in secure technology (which is important when serving vulnerable populations) and have an extensive volunteer work force who have all completed requisite training, speak a number of different languages and have a wide range of expertise in technology. Our pre-COVID experience in developing tech-training tools and resources, coupled with the thousands of virtual trainings we have delivered since the COVID-19 outbreak, has provided us with a level of expertise that we believe can benefit other organizations who are working to achieve the same goal of keeping seniors socially connected and safe.

The Service We Offer Schools and Youth Organizations

The Cyber-Seniors program provides as much benefit to young people as it does senior citizens. Through their training and volunteer experience, teens and young adults develop important workforce readiness proficiencies such as problem solving, organizational & leadership skills, effective communication and professional work ethics. Volunteer mentoring hours are automatically logged by the Cyber Seniors website and digital badges and certificates that acknowledge their achievements and volunteer hours are awarded. Cyber-Seniors offers a turn-key curriculum and several options to ensure a successful experiential learning opportunity for students.
